Grandstand
is a people-pleasing IPA from the excellent beer whisperers at
Toronto’s Left Field Brewery. Named in honour of “baseball’s common
grounds”, Granstand contains a style-slight 6.2% alcohol and comes in
355mL cans. The beer is a sunny, slightly hazy gold, with a fluffy and
durable white head. With an aroma rich in mango and other tropical
fruit, Grandstand smells great. Its flavour is also pleasant, though
perhaps a bit less boisterous than the nose. It has juicy mango notes
over top of a sticky bitter finish.
I’ve had better
beers from Left Field; however, I’ve yet to have a bad brew from one of
the finest breweries in Toronto’s east end. This one is nice, but not
exceptional. Understrength, this is about as sessionable as an IPA gets,
but it lacks the crunch I crave.
Rating: 7.0 out of 10.
